Dyslin, the author of "Nehemiah Strong: Life-Sustaining Essentials for a Season of Trial," told program host Ann Vandersteel that his work has a chapter on spiritual authority. It talks about believers having God-given authority as His ambassadors, he explained.
"As Christians, we are little Christs; we are His adopted children. We are His ambassadors, and we have astounding spiritual authority living on this earth, as we are sojourners here for the short season. We need to walk in that, because what we are encountering as this world goes mad, it's spiritual warfare first." Vandersteel said Dyslin's book also talked about the "warrior mindset" and noted that people are being challenged now. According to her, Americans are being forced to understand how the nation relates to the rest of the world. Thus, America needs to find its place in God's line – and this requires Americans to step up and engage in a warrior mindset as they are being challenged in fifth-generation warfare.
In response to Vandersteel's question about how Americans can shift into this warrior mindset, Dyslin said they need to follow the example of athletes. These athletes, he explained, compete in competitions with the confidence that they will become victorious. Dyslin stressed that as God's children and as believers, the victory has already been won "through Jesus."
Vandersteel added that while people traverse and walk in the righteous footsteps God has placed before them, they need the Holy Spirit's discernment and the armor of God to protect them. Dyslin agreed, adding that people need to be armed with spiritual tools and armor from a defensive and offensive standpoint when fighting in the spiritual realm.
"We need to be defensively armed with things like the shield of faith, helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness which Paul talks about brilliantly and obviously spiritually inspired in Ephesians 6, but we also need to be armed with the sword of truth which is God's word," Dyslin said.
The lifelong student of Scripture and Christian doctrine stated the first thing that a believer must have in spiritual warfare is the word of God, the author noted. He also mentioned that people are going to be looking for answers, hope and the truth in a season when almost every person is going to come to understand that the present world is a post-truth age that is full of lies.
Dyslin said the first warfare tool is the truth which starts with God's Word and believers better know it. He also expressed belief that a believer's highest calling in this season is to share the truth, which Dyslin said is ultimately founded in the Gospel. The author added that desperate people are going to be looking for light in the darkness.
Vandersteel agreed, also noting that the truth sometimes hurts.
"You can't make the decisions when you're not making decisions based on truth. You're just going to make the wrong one every time. I think everybody could stop and think about a decision they made when you thought you were making it based on truth to find out it wasn't."
